All in the Family

What does it truly mean to be part of a forever family? This powerful message takes us into Acts 2:42-47, where we witness the early church in its most vibrant form. Here we find believers who devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer with such intensity that the Lord added to their number daily. The Greek word 'koinonia' appears throughout this passage, speaking to a fellowship that goes beyond casual acquaintance into genuine partnership and shared life. We see a needs-based generosity where believers sold possessions to help anyone in need, a spiritual community that met daily in homes and temple courts, and positive attitudes marked by praise and sincere hearts. But this fellowship extends even further than human relationships. We discover that our koinonia includes fellowship with Christ's blood and body, with the Holy Spirit himself, and with God the Father. Unlike earthly citizenship where we often merely tolerate one another, in God's kingdom we celebrate our unity in Christ. Our citizenship is already in heaven, not waiting to be, but present tense reality. Before we can glow with this kind of transformative community, we must know Jesus personally, grow in our relationship with Him through the power of the Holy Spirit, and be willing to go share this light with others. The question confronting us is whether we truly know this Jesus at a level where He is family, where we are unashamed and He is unashamed of us.
