Cornerstone

What if everything we've built in our lives is measured against the wrong standard? This powerful message challenges us to reconsider our foundation by exploring Acts 4:8-12, where Peter boldly declares Jesus as the cornerstone before the very council that condemned Him. Drawing from ancient building practices, we discover that a cornerstone wasn't just decorative—it was the essential first piece that determined the orientation, stability, and integrity of an entire structure. Every measurement flowed from it. When that stone was faulty, the whole building would eventually collapse. The beauty of this truth is staggering: Christ isn't just a cornerstone for some abstract concept of church, but the foundation of our individual lives as temples of the Holy Spirit. Unlike the world's measuring stick of wealth, power, and fame, our true value isn't found in how we measure up to others, but in what we measure from. When we align our lives with Christ as our zero point, our waypoint, our reset point, everything changes—our view of family, work, community, and purpose transforms. The challenge before us is clear: those under our influence, especially our children, are watching to see what foundation we build upon. Will we point them to the world's unstable standards, or to the tested, precious cornerstone that has borne the weight of the universe since the beginning?
